These are incredibly exciting days for First Baptist Church! As we move into the Fall, our pastor, Ronny Marriott will be doing a series on L.I.F.E. and answering the questions of how we do LIFE here at First Burleson. In these days, it is so important to live a life firmly rooted in the Scriptures and to let your light shine brightly each day. It is my desire to be a source of encouragement for you as we seek to live courageously for the Lord Jesus.
At First, Burleson, our Sr. Adults are called Forerunners (60+ Sr. Adults) and are a fun and lively group. Webster defines the term “forerunner” as “one who goes before and in some way announces the coming to others.” As Sr. Adults, we set the bar for those who come after us in prayer, praise, and service. We are examples of Christ-like love to future generations.
Hebrews 12:1-3 challenges all Christians to run the race of the Christian life with perseverance. As “forerunners,” our Sr. Adults continue to run the race, leading the way and leaving a legacy for those who come after us in the Christian journey.
This Fall, our Forerunner leadership team has planned some great opportunities for local mission endeavors, social outings and times of fellowship.
- Nov. 9: TRIP TO DALLAS ARBORETUM
We will leave from the Family Life Center entrance at 8:30a.m. and will arrive at the Arboretum by the time they open at 10am. What We've Done
We received just a little taste of Heaven on October 5 when we gathered to hear a program by Dr. Bruce McCoy and Dr. Don Wyrtzen. They presented a Heritage of Hymns Concert in our Worship Center. They played and sang with passion and energy that radiated the love of God. It was a real treat and a huge blessing. Another opportunity for a blessing was presented by Dr. McCoy. That was the opportunity to be a blessing to First Burleson and the community for decades to come by giving to the church through your will. Consider this opportunity to be Jesus to the world, even beyond your years here on earth. Below are a few photos from the event.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:1-4
